Dash Reports on 2003 User Meeting
The 2003 User Meeting was held at the Golden Gate
Club at the Presidio in San Francisco last month. Participants included
Dash customers, business partners, academic partners and Dash software
developers.
All of the presentations were of a very high quality
and it was very rewarding to see such relevant and original material
presented by enthusiastic optimization practitioners. Prof. Egon
Balas started the meeting well with a very interesting and accessible
keynote address about MIP technology.
Dash presentations covered current and future
developments, new technology, new products and best practice.
The customer/partner sessions covered topics from
supply chain, financial, enterprise, process and energy. Within
these sessions, there were presentations about research, application
projects and software development.
There were also demonstrations featuring the latest
version of Xpress-MP and early versions of Xpress-CP and Xpress-SP.
Xpress-CP is a new product for solving the combined planning and
scheduling problem and is a joint development between Dash and Cosytec.
Xpress-SP is a new product, which addresses the problem of optimization
under uncertainty.
The informal exchange and networking was also
highly valued by participants, including Dash software developers
who appreciate the opportunity to talk to many different customers.
Feedback from participants was very positive with
favorable comments about the quality, depth and relevance of the
presentations, the enthusiasm of the participants and the venue.
The Golden gate club is within the historic Presidio National Park,
yet within easy reach of San Francisco.
We would like to thank all of those who made the
meeting a success and look forward to next year's meeting, which
will be held in London.
